Lilac bush planting to honor board member

Members of Summers County’s REACHH-Family Resource Center will plant a lilac bush at its Temple Street office at 4 p.m. Monday in honor of Larry Levine, longtime board member and chair.

Levine, who has lived in Summers since 1972, recently moved to Lewisburg, where he is executive director of the Trillium Arts Collective.

Levine became involv-ed with REACHH-FRC as a financial supporter with the Levine Family Foundation when he saw how passionately and hard Peggy Rossi work-ed with a minimal budget to maximize direct services to individuals and families.

“She helped me realize,” he said, “that many children did not experience a safe, supportive, nourishing home life, which is what my parents had provided and what I offered my own children. I appreciated that REACHH-FRC had a very broad mission of service, not limited to crisis and refuge, but through empowerment and education toward healthier homes.”

He joined the board during the 1990s when REACHH-FRC was becoming independent from the Women’s Resource Center.

REACHH-FRC said Levine’s dedication to REACHH-FRC and to the community has been an inspiration to all who have had the opportunity to work with him.

For more information about the bush planting ceremony, call REACHH-FRC at 304-466-2226.
