Lewisburg Rotary Club plans Diamonds and Burlap fundraiser

For The Register-Herald

The Lewisburg Rotary Club is planning its annual Diamonds and Burlap extravaganza for March 23 at the Lewisburg Elks Club.

The popular event includes wine and dinner prepared by Bella Casa, silent and live auctions, as well as numerous opportunities to win cash prizes.

The evening begins at 5:30 with drinks and a preview of the auction items. Dinner is served at 6:30 and entertainment begins at 7:30, hosted by auctioneers Paul Grist and Steve Hunter.

Some of the activities planned are a half-and-half drawing and a Heads and Tails game that was greatly enjoyed last year by attendees.

The event is open to all. Tickets are $35 and may be purchased by contacting Martha Hilton at 304-645-4966 ext. 104.

Proceeds will benefit the various charitable activities of the Lewisburg Rotary Club. The club donated more than $25,000 in 2012 to various local, national and international projects.

Local projects include the Lewisburg Rotary Club Scholarship program, Penny Pitch, the Dictionary Program that provides a dictionary for every third-grader at Lewisburg Elementary School and support for United Way, Family Refuge Center, Greenbrier Valley Theatre, Carnegie Hall, CASA of the 11th Judicial Circuit, Martin Luther King Day celebrations and Wheels of Hope.
