Spanish Harlem Orchestra to perform classic holiday songs

LEWISBURG — Ready to spice up your holiday season? A performance by the Grammy Award-winning 13-piece Spanish Harlem Orchestra (SHO) will be 7:30 p.m. Dec. 12.

In their brand new holiday program, “Salsa Navidad,” SHO will put their invigorating Latin flare on classic holiday songs and take their rhythmic seduction to the next level.

In addition, Carnegie Hall is offering Salsa Dance classes prior to the December concert. The classes, taught by Ken Baldwin, will be from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 4 and 11. Cost per class is $10 for adults, $7 for students.

Baldwin danced Salsa professionally for 12 years. He worked as a dancer, choreographer and instructor for film, television, music videos and live concerts. He has worked with or taught Rene Zellweger, Morgan Freeman, Celia Cruz, Emilio Estevez, Paulina Rubio, Sofia Milos, Eriq La Salle and Mario Lopez. He was the in-house Salsa instructor at Jennifer Lopez’s night club The Original Conga Room in Los Angeles.

Purchase tickets for the concert and register for classes by calling the Hall at 304-645-7917. For more information about this or other upcoming events, visit

This performancet is funded through the Mid Atlantic Tours program of Mid Atlantic Arts Foundation with support from the National Endowment for the Arts and the West Virginia Division of Culture.
