Take an international journey at Concord’s annual banquet

— Concord University’s International Students Club extends a special invitation to all Concord students to its annual International Banquet — a multicultural event that promotes diversity, mutual understanding between international and American students, and the Athens community.

The theme for the April 28 event is “Worldwide Journey.” The banquet will be from 6 to 9 p.m. in the Ballroom in the Student Center on the Concord campus. Dozens of countries will be represented in this cultural celebration, like Albania, China, Saudi Arabia, Spain, Nepal, Russia, Japan and many others.

To start off the evening, a buffet of exotic foods will be served in the CU Ballroom.  It will feature both vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes from around the globe. Tea, water and dessert will also be served.

After the banquet, the traditional cultural entertainment portion of the evening will move to the Ballroom stage. The show will include different dances, songs, and playing of musical instruments from Asia, Africa, Latin America, Europe and North America. The fashion show will feature traditional costumes from different countries. It is a must-see cultural learning opportunity, the purpose of which is to open your eyes and hearts to other cultures.

Tickets (which cover both the dinner and the show) are $15 for faculty members, staff and the public, and $5 for Concord students. Tickets are available for purchase Monday through Friday. They can be purchased at the following locations the ISC table on the ground floor of the Student Center (opposite the Bookstore) from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. or the International Students Club from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
