In conjunction with kindergarten registration, Fayette County Schools will conduct developmental screening for all children ages 3-5. This important screening will provide parents with information related to their child’s development in the areas of hearing, vision, speech, language, fine and gross motor skills, social/emotional and cognition.
Developmental screening is required of all local education agencies to ensure that all children exhibiting delays are identified and referred to the proper agencies.
These screenings will be provided from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the following locations:
March 1: Valley High School for children living in the Gauley Bridge Elementary and Valley Elementary attendance zones.
March 8: Midland Trail High School for children living in the Ansted Elementary, Divide Elementary and Meadow Bridge Elementary attendance zones.
March 15: National Guard Armory in Glen Jean for children living in the Fayetteville Elementary, Gatewood Elementary, Mt. Hope Elementary and Rosedale Elementary attendance zones.
March 22: National Guard Armory in Glen Jean for children living in the New River Elementary attendance zone.
Children must be 4 years old on or before Sept. 1, 2013, to register to attend Pre-K for the 2013-2014 school term.
The following information must be taken to the appropriate attendance zone registration site: certified birth certificate (certified from the State Registrar: West Virginia Department of Vial Statistics); immunization records; child’s Social Security card; proof of preventive health screen/ well-child exam in last 12 months (well child exams available on-site for children in need of this exam); income identification (W-2, check stub, SSI, etc.).
