Scrapbook workshop to showcase a variety of techniques

Carrie Ford, of Almost Heaven Scrapbooking in Charleston, will serve as instructor for Twin Falls Resort State Park’s annual scrapbook workshop March 14-16.

Beginning at 7 p.m. Friday in the Azalea Room, the weekend will include a multitude of scrapbooking information, specific how-tos and a variety of products to make the scrapbooking experience more enjoyable, according to park officials.

“It’s a great weekend to work on creating and retaining experiences through scrapbooks,” said Rita McAllister, front desk supervisor at the park’s newly expanded lodge.

Participants should bring photographs, news clippings or other mementos for scrapbooking projects, along with their own tools and supplies, McAllister said.

There will be some instruction Saturday and Sunday, she said. The workshop is geared toward beginning and intermediate scrapbookers, she added.

“It’s just an open crop and we have a lot of fun,” McAllister noted.

In an informal setting, participants will get to know each other Friday evening and begin their projects. Ford will provide instruction Saturday and Sunday. There will also be some scrapbook supplies for sale, she said.

The weekend provides ideas and instruction to help individuals new to the hobby as well as information on new trends and ideas. Many of the participants return each year, she added.

“We welcome our past attendees and those folks make welcome the new folks that come to this memory-maker weekend,” McAllister said.

Cost of the workshop is $80 and includes instruction and lunch Saturday and Sunday, and refreshment breaks.

A variety of lodging packages for the workshop are also available.

Reservations are required.

For more information or to make workshop reservations, call 304-294-4000 or toll-free at 1-800-CALL WVA and ask for Twin Falls.
