The annual series of baked and fried tilapia dinners will begin March 7 at the Parker Community Center, behind the Emanuel United Methodist Church in downtown White Sulphur Springs under the sponsorship of the Alleghany Highlands Council 8689 Knights of Columbus.
The dinners will be served 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. and feature sides of scalloped potatoes, coleslaw, hard rolls, drink and homemade desserts.
Other dinners will be March 14, 21 and 28, and April 4 and 11.
This is the main fundraising activity of the Alleghany Highlands Council, said Perk Berry of White Sulphur Springs, grand knight of the council.
“Funds from these dinners are used for our projects supporting the six-county community, youth, church projects and donations to the various charities we support,” Berry added. The Alleghany Highlands Council is known as one of the most active Knights councils in the state.
A tradition in the Greenbrier Valley during the Lenten season, the dinners are available “eat in or to go” and tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for children 5-12 and all you care to eat, eat in only, for $15. Children under the age of 5 are free.
The Alleghany Highlands Council includes members from Bath, Alleghany, Pocahontas, Greenbrier, Monroe, and Summers counties, including members of the Pocahontas County Knights’ Roundtable, headquartered in St. John Neumann Catholic Church, Marlinton.
