Free summer serenade concert to be held

Aurora Celtic, sponsored by Ivy & Stone, presents the free Summer Serenade concert Saturday at 6 p.m. on the Brown House lawn in Summersville.

Aurora Celtic, self-described as edgy mountain Irish West Virginia style music, will present this final free concert the 2013-14 season for Ivy & Stone. From the hills of West Virginia, Aurora Celtic plays evocative, original and traditional music for guitar, fiddle, Irish flute, mandolin and banjo that bridges the cultures of Scotland, Ireland and Appalachia.

As Ivy & Stone’s thank you at the end of another successful programming year, guests are invited to bring a lawn chair and shuck the workday stress and lose themselves in the magic that is Aurora Celtic.

Presented by the corporate sponsors of Ivy & Stone, band members Alice Fleischman, Michael Broderick and Jake Pitzer have played throughout the Mid-Atlantic states, at the Kennedy Center and in Europe.

Aurora Celtic has two recordings, “Edge of the World” and “Crows In the Kitchen.” Their music has twice been featured on NPR’s “Thistle & Shamrock” music program. www.auroracelticmusic.com/

Come early to purchase a light pizza supper beginning at 5 p.m. as you prepare to enjoy an evening of toe-tapping delight. In case of inclement weather, the show will continue at Old Main.
