Little Texas will headline this year’s Mullens Dogwood Festival scheduled May 5-9. The country music stars will perform Saturday, May 8.

Glen Shelton will be the featured gospel performer Friday, May 7.

“Although the snow is still falling, planning for the 2010 Mullens Dogwood Festival is well underway,” emphasized Susan England-Lord, festival committee chairman.

Little Texas has generated numerous hits, including “Some Guys Have All The Love,” “God Blessed Texas,” “My Love,” and “What Might Have Been.”

They’ve earned awards from ACM, CMT, Billboard, Radio & Records, along with a Grammy nomination.

With just over two decades in the music business, four of the original members — Porter Howell, Duane Propes, Del Gray and Dwayne O’brien — make up the group.

Before hitting the big time, the band crisscrossed America for three years, playing every bar and honky tonk from Myrtle Beach, S.C., to Los Angeles, Calif., all the while writing songs and perfecting their stage show.

Glen Shelton describes himself as a “positive country artist.”

He had two Christian country songs in the top 10 last year and earned an Inspirational Country Music nomination for New Artist of the Year.

He is also an International Country Gospel Music Association Male Horizon and Crossover Artist nominee.

His latest country gospel release is “I Thought Of You.”

Shelton has two earlier CDs, “There Rose A Lamb,” also country gospel, and his first release, “The Best Years Of My Life,” featuring country music.

He has worked with many Nashville recording artists since 1995, winning the Colgate Country Showdown in 2002.

He has continued to work with well-known artists such as Randy Travis, Jimmy Fortune, Lonestar, among numerous others.
