BECKLEY —
St. Matthew African Methodist Episcopal Church, 103 Mills Ave., Beckley, will host the 102nd session of the West Virginia Annual Conference Aug. 24-29.
The yearly meeting brings AME congregations together from across the state for worship, planning sessions and discussions of issues facing the church.
The conference schedule is: Aug. 24, Tuesday, Women in Ministry; Aug. 25, Wednesday, Missionary Day; Aug. 26, Thursday, Official Opening of Conference/Business Session; Aug. 27, Friday, Business Session/Lay Night; Aug. 28, Saturday, Ordination Services/Youth Day, and Aug. 29, Sunday, Closing Session.
Noon day worship services will be Thursday and Friday. Revival services will be each evening at 7 p.m. Ordination services will be at noon Saturday, and the Youth Night program will begin at 7 p.m. The closing worship service for the conference will begin at 10 a.m. Sunday.
The Right Rev. C. Garnett Henning, the 112th consecrated bishop of the AME Church, is the presiding prelate of the Third Episcopal District. Ernestine L. Henning is the episcopal supervisor and the Rev. Alton Dillard is the presiding elder of the West Virginia Conference.
The Rev. Debra Smoot is the pastor of St. Matthew AME Church.
