Concord University plans wedding vow renewals

A new event at Concord University’s Homecoming this year celebrates marriages that took root on “The Campus Beautiful.”

A wedding vow renewal ceremony will be held Saturday at 9:30 a.m. in the Wilkes Family Chapel in University Point for CU alums who met their spouses at Concord. The Chapel has become a picturesque setting for weddings since University Point opened its doors several years ago.

“We decided to add the vow renewal ceremony to our homecoming schedule of events this year because we know a lot of our alums met their spouse while they were both students at Concord. We thought offering the vow renewal would provide them with the opportunity to celebrate their marriage at the place where it all started,” Sarah Turner, Concord director of alumni affairs, said.

“This event is open to all couples who met at Concord, whether they’ve been married five years or 50 years,” she said.

“They will participate in a short recommitment ceremony in the Chapel, and are then invited to join the other couples in the Pais Fellowship Hall for the Mimosa Brunch and cake before moving on to tailgating and pre-game activities.”

For more information contact the Alumni Office at alumni@concord. edu or 304-384-5348.
