For The Register-Herald
The holiday season is upon us, and Greenbrier Valley Theatre is offering its merry musical production of Dickens’ “A Christmas Carol.”
Joe Buttram returns in the role of Ebenezer Scrooge, having charmed and frightened a generation of Greenbrier Valley children. Also returning are Danny Boone as Jacob Marley, Tom White and Emily Haas as Mr. and Mrs. Cratchit and Jim Norris as Fezziwig. Waylon Lemasters returns as Christmas Future. Christmas Past will be Shane Roper, a veteran of past productions, in a new role, and Eric Fritzius plays Christmas Present.
A total of 60 children and teens from the afterschool drama program are featured in the cast, some of them in multiple roles. The pivotal role of Tiny Tim will be played by Aubry Anthony and Alden Flowers, alternating in casts A and B.
The show, a longtime favorite for the area, will be performed Dec. 7-22, with evening performances at 7:30 p.m. and special matinees at 10 a.m. Dec. 17 and at 2 p.m. Dec. 22.
