The Massey Foundation of Richmond, Va., has provided funds for a challenge grant that will match donations to existing or new unrestricted funds at the Beckley Area Foundation. This is the fourth year that BAF has received this thoughtful gift that will leverage much-needed additional discretionary funds.
“The foundation receives dozens of worthwhile proposals each December in response to our Annual Community Grant Program,” commented Susan Landis, BAF executive director. “We are acutely aware of the need to build our pool of discretionary funds. The Massey gift offers donors an opportunity to help meet this need and double the impact of their donation.”
The matching funds will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis.
BAF also has a limited number of West Virginia state tax credits offered through the Neighborhood Investment Program. While NIP requires a minimum gift of $500, if an individual or business could contribute that amount to an unrestricted BAF fund, the donation would be matched and the donor would receive $250 back in the form of West Virginia state tax credits.
The NIP state tax credits are available for gifts to designated as well as to unrestricted BAF funds. The matching opportunity applies only to unrestricted gifts.
For more information contact BAF at 304-253-3806 or email@example.com. Act quickly as the matching money and the tax credits are limited.
