Food and wine lovers are in for a special treat as Stonewall Resort brings a taste of the Spanish Coast to Wild and Wonderful West Virginia on Feb. 2.
Steve Ludwig, director of sales and marketing at Stonewall Resort, said “This special event, which begins at 7 p.m., features a centuries-old Spanish tradition of eating small portions of eclectic foods called tapas pared with delicious red and white wines.”
He noted that the tradition of tapas originated in Spain during the 1600s and continues today as a staple of contemporary Spanish cuisine.
“We are excited to bring this tradition to you with a special Taste of the Spanish Coast package. Our culinary team has added a unique twist to the tapas custom with Appalachian flavors and a selection of wines that enhance the creative menu,” Ludwig said.
Some of the culinary treats on the tapas menu: Serrano Ham and Queso Blanco Stuffed Cherry Peppers; Crispy Bleu Cheese Stuffed Olives; Cherry Tomatoes stuffed with Spanish Olive Tapenade; Fried Oysters with Spicy Marinara; Chili Roasted New Potatoes; Terrine of Pork Rillettes with Balsamic Onion Puree; Citrus Cured Salmon with Fennel-Apple Salad; Crispy Calamari with Saffron Aioli; Herb Seared Tuna with Pickled Vegetables; Almond Crusted Chevre; Manchego and Chorizo Puffs; Steamed Mussels with Saffron, Chiles and Lime.
In addition to the tapas, Stonewall Resort is partnering with Kysela Pere et Fils, LTD (a purveyor of fine wines and craft beers) to provide specially selected wines to accompany the menu.
The cost is $189 per couple and includes one night lodging, dine-around tapas dinner and wine. There will also be live music provided by two Spanish guitarists throughout the evening.
