First Christian Church sanctuary renovations done

Special services are planned

From Staff Reports

BECKLEY — First Christian Church, located on the Courthouse Square in Uptown Beckley, is having a special day of services Sunday, Dec. 15. Not only are they preparing for the advent of Jesus, but also celebrating the return to the sanctuary for worship.

Over the past several months the church has conducted major renovation and restoration of its worship center.

The morning worship at 10:45 a.m. will include a time of rededication, with a reception to follow. That evening at 5 p.m. the chancel choir will present The Splendor of Christmas. Following the service will be the annual Christmas dinner, and Christian Women’s Fellowship Basket auction.

First Christian Church is a part of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), which traces its origins to the Second Great Awakening of the early 19th Century. The church is united each Sunday by celebrating the Lord’s Supper, and we have one simple confession of faith: Jesus Christ is Lord. The church gladly welcome anyone seeking God with a willingness to  journey toward Kingdom’s potential.

As a church in the heart of Beckley, with a heart for the Gospel, First Christian Church is actively involved in a variety of ministries within our community. From hosting the Carpenter’s Corner in our Educational Building, to participating in the Backpack Ministry and Operation Christmas Child, the church seek to share the Gospel in both word and work.

The community is invited to join in celebration Sunday. If you would like more information about the church and its ministry, call us at 304-2452-8597, on the web visit fccbeckley.org, or on Facebook at disciplesofchrist.
