What could be better than coming up with a great original recipe you and your family enjoy?
Winning a prize for it.
Entries are now being sought for some specific products.
All three require entries to be submitted online. If you need additional information about one of the contests, please e-mail the company at the address provided for each one.

The Smithfield and Paula Deen Recipe Contest is now open for entries.
To be eligible, entrants must submit a recipe at www.smithfield.com between now and Sept. 30. Recipes must include one of the following Smithfield products: bacon, smoked sausage, lunch meat, smoked chops, ham or fresh pork.
In November, Paula will choose the top 10 recipes, which will be posted on www.smithfield.com. Each finalist will receive a 12-piece Paula Deen steel and copper cookware set and will compete for the $30,000 cash grand prize and the chance to share their favorite recipe with Paula herself.
All www.smithfield.com visitors will have the opportunity to vote for the “People’s Choice” recipe. Winners will be announced Jan. 15, 2009.
Consumers can visit www.smithfield.com for inspiration before heading to the kitchen to get cooking.

Head for the finish line with the Steak-umm “Victory Circle BBQ” recipe contest — a summer sizzler being hosted by the maker of Steak-umm Sliced Steaks and just — introduced Steak-umm Burgers in honor of Steak-umm Company’s new NASCAR sponsorship. Fans can submit their most creative barbecue dishes using either Steak-umm Sliced Steaks or Steak-umm Burgers (Original, Sweet Onion and Real Cheese). Each recipe will be judged on originality, taste, visual appeal, creative use of the product, and — what else? — mastery of the art of barbecue saucing.

The grand prize is a Weber Q 100 Liquid Propane Gas Grill. The grand prize winner as well as two runners-up will also receive a 10-inch limited-edition Steak-umm frying pan. The contest ends Aug.14. Winners will be selected by Aug. 18.

Do you have a creative and delicious recipe for salmon? MarxFoods.com is calling all cooks who are wild about salmon to enter their best recipe for an opportunity to win a summer of wild salmon.
The creator of the winning recipe will receive a “summer of wild salmon” — three separate 5-pound shipments of wild salmon fillets totaling 15 pounds over the next three months. A shipment of wild salmon will be delivered directly to the winner’s doorstep once in July, August, and September, on the dates of the winner’s choosing.
The wild salmon species and origination will vary throughout the summer depending on what’s fresh and running. For example, July’s shipment might be Taku River Sockeye, Copper River Coho in August, and Columbia River King in September — it all depends on what’s running.
The recipe must be original with salmon being the star of the dish. A recipe title should be included with the submission and each contestant can enter only one recipe.
“We’d like to not only have our winner stocked with fresh seasonal fish for the summer months, but also give them an opportunity to taste and compare several types of wild salmon,” said Justin Marx, CEO of MarxFoods.com.
Recipes can be submitted directly to the company’s blog, and if the author wants to include a photo, it can be e-mailed to contest@marxfoods .com to be added to the post.
The contest is not limited to fresh salmon recipes, but can incorporate any variety of salmon — frozen, smoked, canned, pickled, etc. Each recipe will be judged by the staff at MarxFoods.com on deliciousness and originality. Recipes are being sought out that can be realistically recreated in a home kitchen.
To enter, please submit original salmon recipes online to the MarxFoods.com blog by Friday, June 20 at 11:59 p.m.
Contest rules:
- MarxFoods.com will subjectively evaluate the recipe based on its perceived deliciousness, because each recipe will not be tasted. The recipe’s perceived deliciousness will be judged completely at the whim of our staff.
- Each contestant can enter only one recipe.
- All recipes must be original. Recipes that infringe copyrights are prohibited. By submitting your recipe, you promise that you created the recipe and did not violate copyright law by publishing it on our site. You also agree that we can publish its contents anywhere on www.marxfoods.com or www.marxfood .com, or otherwise use it as we see fit.
- Each entry must include a recipe name and be well written in a clear manner that is easy to follow.
- You must be over 18 years of age and a resident of the United States. Anyone under 18 years old who wants to submit a recipe should have a parent enter it in their name.
- The winner will be announced Wednesday, June 25 by e-mail. If the winner does not respond within 72 hours, a new winner will be selected.
- By participating, entrants agree to allow MarxFoods.com to send notices and promotions via e-mail.
