Raleigh County high school seniors won’t be graduating on a Sunday this school year.
The board of education at a regular meeting Tuesday evening announced the following schedule for graduation ceremonies at the Raleigh County Armory Civic Center:
- Shady Spring High School, Friday, June 1, 2007, 6 p.m.
- Independence High School, Saturday, June 2, 2007, 10 a.m.
- Liberty High School, Saturday, June 2, 2007, 1:30 p.m.
- Woodrow Wilson High School, Saturday, June 2, 2007, 5 p.m.
The board also discussed recent progress in school building improvements, including Clear Fork Elementary School. Assistant superintendent Racine Thompson said that school will have city water by the end of December.
It is the only remaining county school without such service.
Likewise, Fairdale Elementary School, the county’s only remaining school with a coal furnace, will have an updated heating system in the near future.
