Kissinger always has the Spirit

— Hundreds of citizens will gather at the Beckley-Raleigh County Convention Center Monday evening for the 2012 Spirit of Beckley banquet that annually raises funds for the YMCA of Southern West Virginia.

And the recipient of this year’s award is one who truly always has the Spirit of the community at the forefront of everything she does.

Nancy Kissinger will be recognized during the event and, as is the case with all of those who have preceded her, the honor is certainly deserving.

Past winners described her in various ways.

“She exemplifies the best of who we are,” said Beckley entrepreneur Michael Darby.

“Selecting Nancy Kissinger for this honor definitely raises the bar for the Spirit of Beckley,” added William “Bill” Baker, another former honoree.

“Nancy is a true blessing to our community,” said 2011 Spirit recipient and Beckley Mayor Emmett Pugh.

Glowing remarks fit for a lady who beams with community pride and performs countless hours of volunteer work and support, seemingly at every turn.

Anyone who really knows Nancy Kissinger can attest to her energy and constant willingness to be involved and serve to enrich our community and our region.

Her qualities of leadership, selflessness and giving are an example for everyone to follow.

Many frequently wonder how she does it; we do.

An amazing human being.

Please join us in saluting and thanking the 2012 Spirit of Beckley honoree Nancy Kissinger for everything she does to help make Beckley and southern West Virginia the best it can be.
