Questions about law brushed off

Guest editorials do not necessarily reflect the views of The Register-Herald.

Arrogance that might be termed incredible but for the fact it has become common in President Barack Obama’s administration is on display again, regarding the so-called Affordable Care Act.

In mid-August, attorneys general from 13 states including West Virginia wrote to U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius seeking information about one aspect of the ACA, otherwise known as “Obamacare.”

West Virginia Attorney General Patrick Morrisey and his peers worry about “navigators” being hired by the thousands to guide Americans through the intricacies of Obamacare.

Specifically, they are concerned about the risk of navigators improperly using personal information from those they are supposed to help. Navigators will be hired without criminal background checks.

A reply was sought by the attorneys general by Aug. 28. No reply — not even an acknowledgement of the letter — has been received.

So much for Obama’s pledge of a “transparent” administration.
