Concord women fall to Seton Hill

GREENSBURG, Pa. — Seton Hill overcame an early two-point deficit in the second half to record a 78-65 victory over Concord in the first round of the West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.

The Mountain Lions took a 38-36 lead on a 3-poiner by Stephanie Wagner at the 19:04 mark, but the Griffins responded with a 13-2 run over the next 5:11, securing the lead for good.

Katie Gattuso erupted for a game-high 31 points and grabbed a WVIAC season-best 21 rebounds for the Griffins. Tiara Stossel notched 17 points and snagged seven boards. Paige Alviani connected for 15 points.

SHU hit 27 of 32 foul shots (84.4 percent) for the contest.

Wagner scored a team-high 21 points and dished out a game-high nine assists for the Mountain Lions. Rachel Artrip notched 14 points while Jacqueline Kestner totaled 12 points and 11 boards. Amanda Smith chipped in 11 points.

    However, as expected, he landed on his feet.
    The lifelong Beckley resident and former head coach at MSU has officially been named an assistant coach at East Tennessee State. The move, which had been rumored for weeks, was announced by the school Friday morning.
