Hoskins invited to play in Senior Bowl

HUNTINGTON —  Marshall tight end Gator Hoskins has been invited to participate in the 2014 Senior Bowl at Ladd-Peebles Stadium in Mobile, Ala. The game will be held on Saturday, Jan. 25, at 4 p.m. Eastern and will be televised on NFL Network.

This is Marshall’s third Senior Bowl invitation in as many years. Vinny Curry went to the 2012 Senior Bowl, while Aaron Dobson was named to last year’s game.

A two-time John Mackey Award Watch List honoree, Hoskins secured a spot on the award’s semifinalist list as a senior. Both players went on to become second-round NFL draft selections, Curry by the Philadelphia Eagles and Dobson by the New England Patriots.

A third-team All-American and first-team All-Conference USA selection, the Gainesville, Fla., native finished his career 99 receptions for 1,318 yards and 28 touchdowns in 99 receptions (1,318 yards). The 28 touchdowns rank third in Herd history behind Randy Moss (53) and Darius Watts (47).

Hoskins finished with 15 touchdown catches as a senior, fifth all-time at Marshall for a single season. He was tied for third nationally and had the most among tight ends by a margin of seven.
