HUNTINGTON — Marshall has hired Alex Mirabal as an assistant coach on offense.

Coach Doc Holliday announced Mirabal’s hiring Thursday.

Mirabal spent the past six seasons as an assistant coach at Florida International, including the last three as offensive line coach. Before that he worked with the school’s tight ends.

He is a native of Miami, and he and his wife, Berta, have two sons, Alejandro and Nicolas.

“Alex provides an immediate boost to this coaching staff,” said Holliday. “We are fortunate to welcome not only a great coach, but also a tenacious recruiter to our Marshall  Football family.”

“It is an honor to be part of this program,” Mirabal added. “Marshall University has a rabid fan base and I look forward to working with its student-athletes to achieve greatness, on and off the field.”
