United Bankshares earnings up
United Bankshares Inc. announced on Thursday that earnings were up year over year by $3 million.
Earnings for 2013 were $85.6 million, or $1.70 per diluted share, up from $82.6 million or $1.64 per diluted share for the prior year.

AG warns Target gift card offer is a scam
Attorney General Patrick Morrisey is warning West Virginia consumers of a Target gift card scam that has been occurring across the country on social media.
The warnings are the latest taken to inform nearly 70 million consumers who may have been affected when company credit and debit cards were breached in December.
“Scammers have taken to social media websites to prey on consumers offering them a Target Gift Card supposedly as a way to make up for their data being breached,” Morrisey said. “This is scam. Target has not offered gift cards in response to this incident.
Old Colony Realtors get new digs in Beckley
The managing member at Beckley’s Old Colony Realtors say they’re moving on to bigger and better places. After a move to new quarters this weekend, Rob Thomas said the firm will be back to business as usual Monday morning.
