Cash capital is the lifeblood of entrepreneurs. For the second consecutive year, Create West Virginia is offering an opportunity to win up to $2,500 for the best ideas for businesses that offer high job growth potential, improve quality of place or make a significant social impact.
The competition incorporates crowdfunding on DUBVEE.com, a new platform that exclusively promotes and supports West Virginia business creators.
A total of nine applications will be accepted in the first round, three in each category, High Growth Job Creator, Quality of Place and Social Impact.
The process begins with submitting an online application at DUBVEE.com. Applications are due by midnight Sept. 15. A team of business stakeholders aggregated by the Charleston Area Alliance and DUBVEE.com will select the top three contenders in each category.
These nine entrepreneurs will then launch an online crowdfunding campaign on DUBVEE.com. They will also proceed to the Create WV conference to compete for the top prizes, to be awarded Oct. 26, the final day of the 2013 Create West Virginia Conference on The Future in Richwood.
“The process of entering the contest, and then competing to win between now and Saturday, Oct. 26, is instructive in itself,” says Cullen Naumoff, who is managing the competition for the Charleston Area Alliance in cooperation with Create WV. “Competitors must be able to communicate a compelling reason why their business concept can grow into a viable enterprise. Communicating the value of business ideas is often an essential part of the entrepreneurial process, particularly when seeking investment dollars.”
