No changes expected at area company

BLUEFIELD — The president of the Daniels Company said Tuesday no changes are planned for the company’s Bluefield operation, and that no Bluefield employees will be relocating to North Carolina.

It was announced last week the company, a member of the GT Global Family that has operated in Bluefield for more than 55 years, was opening a new office in Charlotte, N.C. However, the new office will only handle international sales, Surendra Jain, president of the Daniels Company, said. Jain said no changes are planned for the Bluefield operation.

“We will continue to do business from here,” Jain said of the Bluefield facility. “The Charlotte office will assist us in future expansion. But we are not going to reduce any business activity in Bluefield.”

Jain said an Internet report from the Charlotte Chamber that suggested employees from Bluefield would be relocating to the new Charlotte site is inaccurate.

“No Bluefield employees are moving to the Charlotte location, and there are no current plans to do that,” Jain said.

The Charlotte Chamber said last week GT could bring as many as 60 employees.

The Daniels Company moved from Indiana, Pa., to Bluefield in 1960. The Beijing Guohua Technology Group recently purchased the Fairview Office building in SouthPark, a high-end Charlotte area business park for the new office.
