Maxwell’s Sports Bar opens at The Galleria

Boasting the best wings and burgers in town, owner Robert Wong said that Maxwell’s Sports Bar and Grille will be the place to go.

“We’ve got six different types of wings that we will be featuring,” he said.

The Galleria restaurant is promised to take on a different atmosphere than the previous business, Rimfire Grille.

“It’s going to be southern West Virginia’s destination for sporting events,” Wong said. “People are going to come from all over to eat.”

Wong said he is confident that his restaurant will be the center for sports fans because of the schedule of sporting events. Upcoming packages range from the NBA to college football to the NFL to NASCAR to the NCAA tournament.

“We’ve got an incredible schedule for sporting events,” he said. “It’s going to be a pretty big deal.”

This family-geared restaurant will seat over 200 people and will have 30 large screen plasma televisions.

“Families can come in and enjoy the lunch and dinner that we serve and on the same note, other folks can come in to sit down and watch the game all day,” Wong explained.

The restaurant will have two separate sound systems — one for live entertainment and one for regular music. The first live performance will be March 27.

“We will have local musicians from light rock to bluegrass to country,” he said.

The restaurant will be open every day at 11 a.m. and will close at 12:30 a.m. Sunday through Wednesday. The real night-owl can enjoy the atmosphere until 1 a.m. Thursday through Saturday, however.

“You will be able to get some food late in the evening and our prices will be competitive to any of the casual chains here,” he said.

Wong said that although there are several restaurants in the area, he said he is sure that Maxwell’s will stand out from the rest. Whether with a plate of chicken wings, or a glass of beer, he said people will find their food and service worth their time.

“The atmosphere, quality of service, and the high quality of food will distinguish us from everyone else,” he said. “We will make sure that you as a customer leave with the desire to come back.”
