McDonald’s in Beaver being rebuilt

McDonald’s lovers in the Beaver area will have to drive a bit farther for their Big Macs for the time being, as the store is being demolished so a new one can be built in its place.

Owner Scott Allison said the store closed Tuesday and demolition began Thursday.

“Everything will be brand new,” Allison said, adding that the size of the new store will be similar to the McDonald’s at Lester Square, just a bit shorter.

The new Beaver store will feature a side-by-side drive-thru, eco-friendly lighting and many other new features.

Allison said the projected re-open date is mid- to late July.

Some of the current 60 employees there have gone to work at other local McDonald’s locations, some have taken a leave of absence and one has sought employment elsewhere.

Current employees will be invited to return to the Beaver store when it reopens, and an additional 30 to 40 crew members will be hired, who will be trained at the Lester Square location.

Allison is the owner of the Lester Square McDonald’s, as well as restaurants in Oceana and Welch.
