Sweet Memphis-style barbecue coming to Beckley

BECKLEY — A Taste of Memphis, authentic hickory smoked barbecue, is coming to Beckley.

Owner Steve Price said he hopes the new Beckley Crossing location will be open the first or second week of July.

Specializing in ribs, pork and chicken, A Taste of Memphis has been set up in Princeton for the last 10 years.

“We’ve thought about putting a store in Beckley for the last two or three years, but we couldn’t find the right location.”

Price said when 412 Beckley Crossing became available, right across from Kroger and Hobby Lobby, he knew it was the right opportunity.

“All of our recipes are true Memphis-style with a sweet tomato-based sauce. We slow cook all of our barbecue over hickory logs for up to 14 hours.”

Homemade sides, including Memphis chips, baked beans, cole slaw and potato salad, will also be on the menu.

Price said the ribs are a Princeton favorite, and he plans on serving beer in the future at the Beckley location.

Off-site catering will be available at Beckley as well.

Anticipated hours of operation are Monday through Thursday 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., Friday and Saturday 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., and afternoon hours on Sunday.

Price said he is looking to hire approximately 20 people for all positions. Anyone interested in applying is encouraged to call 304-326-4014 or stop by the Princeton location, 1249 Stafford Drive, for an application.

“We’re looking forward to bringing A Taste of Memphis to the Beckley area.”
