River Expeditions’ annual fundraising event, Whitewater Wednesday, netted $1,800 for the United Way of Southern West Virginia.
Whitewater Wednesday was held June 16, and featured a rafting trip on the New River followed by a reception held at the Red Dog River Saloon. The reception was co-hosted by the Southern West Virginia Convention and Visitors Bureau and the New River Gorge Convention and Visitors Bureau with food donated by Pasquale’s and beverages compliments of Pepsi, Corley Distributing. Silent auction items were donated by Yeager Airport, Hatfield-McCoy Trails, Ocean Works Massage, Almost Heaven Helicopter Tours, Glade Springs Resort, Tamarack, Twin Falls and Pipestem Resort State Parks and many others.
Margaret O’Neal, executive director for the United Way of Southern West Virginia, commented, “We really value our partnership with River Expeditions and appreciate their support. Whitewater Wednesday was a blast — all those who attended liked the fact that they got to go rafting and enjoy the reception while making a contribution to United Way.”
The United Way of Southern West Virginia serves 29 nonprofit agencies in five counties.
River Expeditions hosts the fundraiser annually on the third Wednesday in June.
“We like giving back to the community where we live, work and play. We’re fortunate to have the resources available to pull off this fundraising event (Whitewater Wednesday) and be successful each year,” said Heather Johnson, the firm’s managing partner of River Expeditions.
Johnson added that River Expeditions hosts fundraising trips for other nonprofit groups throughout the year. For details on rafting or fundraising opportunities contact heather@raftinginfo .com or call 1-800-463-9873.
