Rightway Auto offers dealer-quality service

— Whether you have two cars or 20 trucks to take care of, one local business owner says he wants to bring you dealership-quality service at a backyard price.

Rightway Auto in Beckley offers services for the individual or for businesses.

“We are quick lube center,” owner T.J. Salango said. “We do tire rotation. We are a NAPA auto care center which provides NAPA batteries in stock. We carry wipers. We do small maintenance repairs and we offer fleet services to business owners.

“A fleet service is if you own a company. There are a lot of companies and businesses that use our shop. Companies come to me and I maintenance all of their vehicles. I keep their fleet going. If their trucks need brakes, I put brakes on and things like that. I’m responsible for a whole fleet of vehicles.”

Salango says he has been in the diesel technician field since 2000, but he decided to go into business for himself this year. He says he thinks a business should take care of its customers.

“I feel like when I do business at places, they couldn’t care less whether I’m there or not,” he said. “If I walk out the door and didn’t buy anything, it doesn’t bother them one bit. When people come to my shop, I don’t want anyone walking off the lot.

“Just the other day a man said we were a little bit too expensive and I stepped in and asked him what we could do to keep him here. He said, ‘Well, I could get the same thing done for this price.’ I asked him if he would stay if I could go lower and he stayed and did business with me. He said, ‘I’ll keep coming back here.’ ”

Salango says he feels like a lot of people in business have lost their appreciation of their customers.

“That’s one thing that I want to push big-time, to be a reputable business with a reputation of helping people who are on hard times,” he said. “I’d do my best to take care of them barring that we can pay the power bills and such. I’m not looking to make a million dollars. I just want to stay in business and make a living.

“I’m trying to expand the business to offer some free services like air in your tires. If you think you have a loose lug-nut or you need a free electrical test. We offer free electrical tests now if you think you’re having trouble out of your battery. It’s things that most places would charge you a $25 rack fee just to pull it into the garage.

“I want people to come to Rightway Auto for free diagnostics that won’t take all day. I want to help out in any way I can, whether a customer buys here or not.”

Rightway Auto is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturdays. You can find Rightway Auto at 102 Plaza Drive in Beckley.

The business is a member of the Raleigh County Chamber of Commerce and had its grand opening Saturday, April 5.
