— First Peoples Bank in MacArthur opened its doors to businessmen and women from across the county Thursday evening as part of this month’s Business After Hours event.

A premiere networking event organized by the Beckley-Raleigh County Chamber of Commerce, Business After Hours events are held monthly for both current and prospective chamber members as an opportunity to mix and mingle with other area business owners at the end of the work day.

“We hosted the event hoping to expand our presence in the Beckley/Raleigh County market,” said Mark Anderson, branch manager of the MacArthur location. “We hope this event will help make people more knowledgeable of our services and allow us to establish contact with local businesses we want to do business with.”

Established in 1926, First Peoples Bank’s home office is located in Mullens, while additional branches are located in Pineville and MacArthur, Anderson said.

“We’re a community bank with a full range of services,” said Anderson. “We pride ourselves on providing one-on-one, prompt and personal services.”

The event, which has been held in different forms for more than 20 years, typically boasts no formal program, but rather allows attendees to freely communicate with one another and get to know the host business.

Past events have been held everywhere from medical centers to spas and insurance offices to hotels.

“It’s always good when we have a variety of different businesses host these events,” said Ellen Taylor, president and CEO of the BRCCC. “Some people may not be aware of First Peoples Bank and its services since it’s not located in the middle of Beckley. However, hosting Business After Hours is a really good opportunity help boost the bank’s exposure.”

First Peoples Bank’s MacArthur branch, located at 123 Bethel Road, is open Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. (lobby) and 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. (drive-thru). Lobby hours are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday and drive-thru, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. The drive in windows are open from 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday.
