Ribs stealing the show

Barbecue restaurant opens in Beckley Crossing

BECKLEY — A Taste of Memphis has come to Beckley and is keeping the locals happy and well-fed with its Memphis-style barbecue.

The restaurant has been open only for about two weeks, but the owners say they’ve already seen a positive response from the public.

“Everyone seems to like it who has been here,” co-owner Steve Price said. “We’re even seeing returning customers already. We have several customers who had visited our location in Princeton. The compliments from customers let me know that we’re already successful. People tell us that our food is great.”

He said the restaurant offers a variety of barbecue, but it’s their ribs that steal the show.

“We sell a St. Louis cut rib,” Price explained. “It’s a lot thicker, like three baby-back ribs put together. They’re slow smoked over real hickory logs on-site.”

“And everything is competitively priced,” co-owner Seth Price added. “We’re filling a real niche in the area.”

The father-son duo have been bringing their craft to southern West Virginia for a decade now and own a site in Princeton and now Beckley.

“It’s going to be great to meet the locals that we don’t know yet, and I think the restaurant will be a great fit for this area,” Steve said. “You can’t buy authentic Memphis-style barbecue around here.”

A Taste of Memphis also caters events.

Business hours are from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday, from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday and Saturday and from noon to 3 p.m. Sunday.

A Taste of Memphis is located across from Kroger and Hobby Lobby.
