Jonesin’ for a Good Sandwich settles into a new location

The success of the specialty sandwich shop Jonesin’ for a Good Sandwich had led to the need for an expanded menu and a larger location.

Now located at 107 Beckley Plaza, Jonesin’ offers sandwiches, dinner entrees, and room for parties from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Saturday.

Owner Doug Jones said when he started Jonesin’, the new business endeavor was more of a hobby and something to keep him out of the house.

Doug, his wife Cathy, and their two sons, Dust’n and Jackson, opened Jonesin’ in a small shop on Eisenhower Drive in July 2012, hoping to be able to sell 15 to 20 sandwiches per day.

He said they were open for breakfast and lunch hours, but business got off to a slow start.

When he started opening for late lunch hours, his small sandwich shop took off and business started booming.

“People would stand in line in the small waiting area and wait for 15 to 20 minutes, sometimes longer, just for the sandwiches,” Jones said.

Many customers told him he needed a bigger restaurant, one with a dining room and a bigger parking lot, so Jones began the search.

“I knew if I wanted to make it I had to do what the customers were asking for, so we moved.”

In October 2012, the space beside the small building Jonesin’ started in became available for rent. This location offered a dining room and a bigger parking lot, which allowed the business to grow even more.

Jones even hired an additional hand, Sarah, who oversees the dining area.

Jonesin’ for a Good Sandwich soon became “Jonesin’ for a Good Sandwich and More,” as the menu and hours were expanded to meet customer demands.

“People used to tell us if the sandwiches were that good, they couldn’t wait to see what else we could cook, so dinners were the way to go,” Jones said.

He describes the menu as “great food, great portions and even better pricing.”

After a year at the second location, business had grown yet again, so Jonesin’ has relocated to the Beckley Plaza Mall.

Jones said the new location offers bigger parking and an even larger dining area that can cater to parties.

The new location opened Nov. 8 and an all-day grand opening will be Friday, Nov. 22.

“You can enjoy a sandwich or dinner any time you come in,” Jones said. “Come on out and try something new.”

Delivery options are also still available.
