Rogers named to New River Gorge development authority

Greg Rogers of Hinton will join the New River Gorge Regional Development Authority Board of Directors, according to an announcement from Matt Wender, president of the authority.

The Summers County Commission recently appointed Rogers as its private sector representative to NRGRDA.

Rogers is president of R.T. Rogers Oil Co. Inc., an enterprise established in 1971 as an Esso Agent servicing Summers, Fayette and Monroe counties.

The company later became an independent distributor of Exxon followed by expansion into domestic propane sales and becoming a distributor of Blue Rhino grill cylinder exchanges.

R.T. Rogers currently has 60 employees, eight storage facilities, and distributes energy products in six states.

“We are thrilled to have someone of Greg's caliber join our board,” said Wender.

“Greg’s private sector experience combined with his deep commitment to his community and this region is a great addition to our organization,” he said.

NRGRDA Executive Director Chad Wykle praised the Summers County Commission for its decision.

“Greg Rogers brings to NRGRDA a wealth of knowledge related to what it takes to create jobs and operate a private enterprise. His experience and expertise will be a great asset to our organization as we work to grow the New River Gorge region.”

Rogers earned a business administration degree from Liberty University prior to joining the family business. With his wife, Lori, he has four adult children and a granddaughter, Madison.

They reside in Hinton and are active members of the First Baptist Church of Hinton.
