At Business After Hours, bank thanks customers

BECKLEY — As part of the monthly Business After Hours event, City National Bank on Park Avenue left its doors open to the public a little later on Thursday as a way to say thanks to local business owners and community supporters.

Organized by the Beckley-Raleigh County Chamber of Commerce, Business After Hours is held for current and prospective chamber members as an opportunity to network and mingle with other area business owners. However, last night’s event at City National was a bit different from typical Business After Hours events, as it was open to all local community members.

“City National Bank is one of the longest-running members of the BRCCC and one of our most supportive businesses,” said Joe Guffy, information coordinator for the BRCCC. “The City National Bank event is one of our best networking opportunities of the year.”

“With 83 branches in four states and seven of those branches in Raleigh County, City National Bank is deeply rooted in the community,” said Abigail Scott, regional manager for City National.

“We hold this yearly event as a way to show our customers, friends and fellow community members that we appreciate them,” said Scott. “Also, it’s a way for us to reach out to community members that may not be aware of our services and let them know what we’re all about.”

The evening’s events included “Show What You Know Trivia,” where randomly selected participants were given a chance to flaunt their knowledge for the chance to win up to $100.

The event’s lucky grand prize winner took home a Kindle Fire. Also, attendees who brought a new or gently used coat for the WVNS Warm Coat Drive were entered into a drawing to win a Pasquale’s gift card.

Dr. Jacob Womack of the School of Harmony provided music for the night.
