Home and leisure show this weekend

If you’re ready to plunge into those springtime home improvement projects, get advice from the experts this weekend at the 32nd Annual Southern West Virginia Home Builders Association Home and Leisure Show.

The event will take place Saturday and Sunday at the New River Community and Technical College Advanced Technology Center, 527 Odd Road, just off the I-77 exit at Ghent. Hours are 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday and 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday.  

The event will feature demonstrations, cash prizes and giveaways. Lowe’s Home Improvement is sponsoring a Kid’s Build and Grow Clinic. There will be an auction at 4 p.m. on Sunday for items such as grills, a mower, windows and other great home items.

New River Community and Technical College and 84 Lumber are the show sponsors.

Vendors scheduled to participate include Universal Systems of Beckley, Highland Propane Company, Bath Fitter, SJ Neathawk Lumber Co., Sam’s Club, Silverpoint Homes, K&K Music Co. of Bluefield, Crawl Space and Basement Solutions, Boxley, NPW Homes, Vintage Stone, New River Habitat for Humanity, Window World of Beckley;

City National Bank, Vacation Village Resorts, Wood Turners, HSC Mechanical Services, Lowe’s of Fayetteville, First Security Inc., Gutter Pro of West Virginia Inc., Meadows Heating & Cooling Inc., New River Community and Technical College, Bath Planet of West Virginia, Raleigh County Memorial Airport, Crown Windows and Vinyl Products, Basement Systems of West Virginia and American Block Co.

If the kids aren’t interested in home improvements, they can enjoy fishing in the pond behind the ATC.
