BEAVER — Family-owned and operated Adventure RV Sales in Beaver is offering an exciting new promotion. For every unit purchased, regardless of the size or cost, customers will be entered to win a $10,000 cash giveaway.

For owner Charles DelMoro and his salesman-son Greg DelMoro, this is just another way they are working to build a reciprocal relationship with the community and show appreciation for their home state.

DelMoro, a Beckley native, moved to Florida in 1973, and was in the mobile home and RV business for 20 years. Eventually he began working as a sales manager over more than 140 employees.

After a fatal car accident involving a drunken driver killed his company’s vice president and injured DelMoro, “I was bound and determined to get out of the fast-paced life in Florida and move back to West Virginia.”

In 1993, DelMoro and his wife purchased Mountain State Travel Park in the Beaver area, upgrading it with new gas lines, meters, adding 50-amp service, a bathhouse, laundrymat and new cabin rentals. They sold the park in 2006, but had already started Adventure RV Sales in 2005 with campers ranging in price from $11,500 to $22,500.

“When Greg graduated from WVU with a degree in business and marketing, he thought he’d try the RV business with Dad and fell in love with it. It came naturally for him after growing up in the park,” DelMoro explained.

He said he attributes the success of his business to his 37 years of experience. About 10 other RV dealers in the area have come and gone, he said.

“It looks like 2010 is going to be our best year yet,” DelMoro said, “and I think what sets us apart from other dealers is that we are a small, family-owned business with low overhead and low prices. We don’t have salesmen making 10 percent or more on each camper.”

DelMoro’s primary concern, he said, is helping each customer find the camper he or she want and continueing to take care of the customer after the sale.

“Anyone can sell you a camper, but this is just the start of our relationship with our customers. We have customers that have bought from us three times in five years because they know we will take care of them,” he said.

The owner also pointed out that being a small dealer allows him to make decisions locally, without consulting corporate headquarters, which can make transactions take weeks.

Adventure RV Sales has grown and expanded each year. In its third year it created a service area to assist RV owners (the company services all of the RVs it sells) and the following year it built a parts barn with a full line of parts, “from cleaners and sealants to tires, wheels and refrigerators,” he said.

The dealer’s expansive inventory now ranges in price from $3,500 to $150,000, offering everything from folding tent campers to large motor homes. Toy Haulers, which are made to haul a motorcycle or other small vehicle, can be slept in, and a table folds down to create a U-shaped dinette set. A large Fifth Wheel, all-season camper is the type that many people retire in, he said. That camper has a full bed, dresser, closet, kitchen counter space, dinette that seats four comfortably and two recliners in front of a large picture window.

The most recent addition to the company’s inventory is Lakota Horse Trailers, allowing owners to transport horses in comfort.

Adventure RV Sales has joined efforts with vendors and manufacturers to give away the $10,000 to a customer who purchases a camper from the company between July 14 and Dec. 17 of this year.

“To be able to grow our business through the recession and tough banking crises makes us feel like we are doing our job,” said DelMoro. “Customer satisfaction is always our No. 1 goal, serving everyone from families and weekend campers to those who live on the road full-time.”
