New faces join NRCTC staff

New River Community and Technical College has added new staff members in Beckley and Lewisburg.

- Kenneth N. Green has joined the Information Technology staff as an information systems specialist. He will oversee help desk operations.

Green earned a bachelor’s degree in science information technology with a concentration in computer science from Mountain State University. He was previously employed by the Citizens Conservation Corps of West Virginia as a computer support manager.

-  John C. “Chris” Carr has joined the IT staff as an applications programmer. Carr earned an associate of applied science degree in computer science with a concentration in programming from New River CTC and is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Information Technology from Western Governors University in Salt Lake City, Utah. He most recently worked part-time as a database technician at New River CTC.

- Coy Borders has joined the Office of Finance as the supervisor of student accounts for the Greenbrier Valley Campus in Lewisburg. She graduated from Cheyney University of Pennsylvania with a bachelor’s degree in business administration. She comes to New River from the Hampton Inn in Lewisburg, where she has been a front desk clerk and night auditor.

- Walt M. Johnson has joined the faculty as a visiting instructional specialist in the Welding Technology program. He will teach at both the Greenbrier Valley Campus welding lab in Lewisburg and at the Advanced Technology in Ghent.

Johnson most recently worked as mechanical piping superintendent for Environmental Air Systems of Greensboro, N.C. He is certified as a welding inspector by the American Welding Society and has earned a number of welding qualifications.
