Women’s Resource Center

Staff dedicated to keeping current on laws and services

— Women’s Resource Center strives to keep staff current on laws, statistics, information and services available to victims of domestic and sexual violence.

In the last year, the severity of human trafficking (both sex and labor trafficking) has risen to the forefront. This is a crime that is occurring, not only in highly populated areas, but here in the smaller cities and towns of West Virginia.

Since some victims of domestic and sexual violence may also be victims of human trafficking and vice versa, the West Virginia Coalition Against Domestic Violence recognized the need to educate advocates from West Virginia on all aspects of this issue.

Women’s Resource Center staff members took part Oct. 26 in “Responding To Human Trafficking: National and Local Perspectives” in Charleston. Patricia Bailey, Bonita Sarrett, Lois Manns, Victoria Bradshaw, Tammy Bowling and Dee Sizemore attended the one-day training presented by Polaris Project and sponsored by WVCADV, Division of Justice & Community Services, Regional Community Policing Institute, WV Prosecuting Attorneys Institute and WV Supreme Court of Appeals.

If you suspect you or someone you know is a victim of human trafficking, please contact the National Human Trafficking Resource Center at 1-888-3737-888 or e-mail

Women’s Resource Center is a private, nonprofit agency that provides temporary shelter, counseling, advocacy and supportive services for victims, survivors and witnesses of domestic violence and sexual violence in Raleigh, Fayette, Nicholas and Summers counties.

A dual program, Women’s Resource Center is one of 14 licensed domestic violence programs of the West Virginia Coalition Against Domestic Violence and one of nine rape crisis centers of the West Virginia Foundation for Rape Information and Services, West Virginia’s sexual assault coalition.
