Custom Business Solutions, a newly opened professional employer organization, is paving the way to success for small to medium-sized businesses.
President and CEO Mike Green said his company’s role is to provide services that help streamline the essential administrative business functions, allowing clients to focus on being successful and profitable without having to worry about human resources issues.
“We handle all HR services for our clients, whether that be employee handbooks, recruitment, risk management, workers’ compensation claims, loss prevention and safety audits, or substance abuse prevention.”
Custom Business Solutions can also handle employee benefits programs, payroll, payroll taxes and regulatory compliance.
“It’s a growing business for sure,” Green said. “Especially with the regulatory and governmental compliance, with the Affordable Healthcare Act, for instance.”
He said partnering with his company allows small to medium-sized businesses to offer better services and benefits to their employees, which will help them attract and retain high-quality employees for their business.
Custom Business Solutions has been open for about three months now and Green said the feedback from clients has been great so far. They have signed six new clients in the last four weeks alone.
“Things have been going great. Better than we anticipated this quickly.”
They are gearing up for an aggressive statewide marketing and advertising campaign and Green said they anticipate large growth in the near future. Not only do they anticipate growth within their clientele, but with staff as well.
“With any business, your employees are what make you strong.”
Green’s business partner, Steve Antoline, is a lifelong resident of southern West Virginia.
“He’s a very successful business man and committed to making sure this business is a success.”
Michele Sarrett serves as chief financial officer. She spent the last eight years with Mountain State University as its CFO.
“She did a wonderful job. MSU had some issues, but their finances was not one of the issues they had. She’s a wonderful asset.”
Scott Cosco is also part of the team as director of Business Development and External Affairs.
“Scott comes to us from Frontier Communications. He also worked with Gov. Joe Manchin’s office. He brings a wealth of knowledge and customer service and contacts to allow our business to grow.”
And last but not least, Administrative Officer Tiffany Kapp handles the day-to-day workings of the office, from client contact to customer service and insurance services.
“We’re hoping to go not only statewide, but multi-state.”
Green said he believes they will increase their number of employees from six to 15 in the very near future.
“As risks and liabilities continue to grow for small business owners, I felt like it was not only a business opportunity for us, but an opportunity to help small businesses grow by being able to offload the administrative tasks.”
He said oftentimes, the HR piece of the puzzle is the most negative for small to medium-sized business owners.
