The Cutting Edge stylists see their work as art

Haircuts and highlights are more than just a daily task at Cutting Edge Salon — each head of hair is a canvas and the stylists are the artists ready to create a masterpiece.

Owner Becky Tiberio, with 25 years of experience, said she and the four other stylists at Cutting Edge love the creative aspect of their job.

Whether it’s a new style, a new cut or a new color, Tiberio said a stylist has the ability to completely recreate someone’s look.

“It really lets you be creative and show your artistic ability. You want to make them look good.”

While the crew can do pretty much anything from perms to wedding hairstyles and prom ’dos, Tiberio said hair coloring is their favorite.

Along with Tiberio, Britni Alkassmi, Beth Cogar, Christy Adkins, and Lauren Dyke love to try new techniques, such as the popular ombre highlights or the peek-a-boo highlights.

Ombre is a technique that graduates the ends of your hair to another color, usually lighter and blonder.

Peek-a-boo, Tiberio explained, is like side panel highlights, sometimes done in purple or red.

She said all her stylists have at least seven years of experience and one has 18 years.

Prices are competitive at Cutting Edge, and Tiberio said the whole family can get a haircut or style at the salon.

“We definitely want our customers to feel good about themselves when they leave. We want it to be a very comforting and inviting atmosphere for them.”

In addition to styling services, Cutting Edge also offers massage therapy and a full line of waxing services.

Shirley Henline, a massage therapist, is on site Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

Located at 401 Beckley Crossing, Cutting Edge is open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday and Wed-nesday, from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday and from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday.
