Group making plans for community involvement and membership meeting

BECKLEY — Generation Beckley held its first strategic planning seminar March 18 with Chuck Stump from Performance Group of Charleston.

Stump has conducted seminars with the Beckley-Raleigh County Chamber of Commerce, and is also a member of the BRCCC.

Generation Beckley created a new mission statement, “Young Emerging Leaders Who Are Active in Our Community.”

In-depth ideas were discussed to get more young adults in the community involved and committed to its vision, and how to maintain that membership.

Members also focused their discussion on supporting a number of organizations in the community. To date, Generation Beckley has worked side by side with Mac’s Toy Fund, Friends of Coal Auto Fair, Healthy Kids Initiative, United Way/Parrot Palooza and many networking events, including hosting a Lunch and Learn with Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin.

Generation Beckley will hold its first membership meeting of the year on Monday, April 8 from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. at Turn Key Builders, 254 E. Beckley Bypass, Beckley.

The group will have a monthly meeting every second Monday from then on.
