RDC honors community members

The Ronceverte Development Corp. recently honored four members of the community in appreciation of their hard work and tireless dedication in improving and promoting the River City.

The awards were presented during the RDC’s annual meeting, staged in mid-November at the historic Edgarton Inn.

Kelli Bostic was named Board Member of the Year, Barbara Sweetwood was honored as Volunteer of the Year, Doug Hylton was recognized as City Official of the Year and Kathy King’s Edgarton Inn was dubbed Ronceverte’s Business of the Year.

In addition to presenting awards and enjoying refreshments provided by the inn, the 8-year-old RDC highlighted its accomplishments for the more than 20 city’s residents, volunteers, business representatives, government officials and other stakeholders in attendance.

As the umbrella under which the Main Street Ronceverte program operates, the RDC concentrates on revitalization and economic development in the riverside town.

During the annual meeting, the RDC’s committee chairpersons extolled the accomplishments of the past year, including the development of the SPARK station, initiation of a community garden, Make It Shine Day, beautification of downtown streetscapes, the Super Sunday fundraiser and the establishment of a new AmeriCorps position with the RDC.
