ABC’s Stossel to speak at chamber’s annual meeting

Veteran television news journalist John Stossel will be among the featured speakers at the West Virginia Chamber of Commerce’s 72nd annual meeting and business summit beginning Wednesday.

Stossel is the co-anchor of ABC television’s “20/20” news show and is a New York Times best-selling author.

Stossel is scheduled to speak Thursday during the general session.

The annual meeting and business summit takes place over a three-day period, from Wednesday through Friday, this week at The Green-

brier in White Sulphur Springs.

Last year, more than 800 people attended the event.

In addition to Stossel, former U.S. Sen. Jon Breaux, D-La., and Richard Whiting, president and chief executive officer of Patriot Coal Corp., will speak at the event.

Breaux, who is retired from the U.S. Senate, is co-founder of the Breaux-Lott Leadership Group, a lobbying firm with former U.S. Sen. Trent Lott. Breaux is also co-chairman of the President’s Tax Reform Commission, and an expert on Social Security, health care and energy.

Whiting will be the speaker for Wednesday’s opening lunch. He is a native of West Virginia and his company is completing the purchase of Magnum Coal, which will make Patriot one of the largest coal operations in the Mountain State.
