The Fall Job Fair, hosted by The Register-Herald, has already registered nearly a dozen employers for the Sept. 17 event, and there’s still time for more to sign on.
Foundation Coal, Global Contact Service, Appalachian Premium Fuels, Integrated Resources, West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources, Pocahontas Coal, Performance Bicycle, West Virginia Mine Power, The Resort at Glade Springs, ICG Coal and Dish Network are among early registrants for the upcoming fair, a spring version of which drew more than 1,200 job seekers.
“It’s one of the best opportunities for any business to recruit from a large number of people at one time,” said Diana Slone, the newspaper’s classified manager.
Slone called the fair — slated to take place at the Tamarack Conference Center — a “win-win” for employers and job seekers.
“Whether they’re seeking résumés or asking applicants to apply in person, they’ll never get a pool larger than they will at the job fair,” Slone said.
Likewise, it’s a one-stop job search for those seeking work.
“It’s also a good opportunity for those businesses who may have lost the student help they had over the summer,” she added. “It’s a good time to look for people to fill in those spots.”
The deadline for reserving booth space is Sept. 1. To do so, or for more information, contact Slone at 304-255-4415.
