Resort begins employee awards program

By Christian Giggenbach
Register-Herald reporter

The Greenbrier in White Sulphur Springs announ-ced a new awards program last week where “outstanding employees,” nominated by co-workers, are rewarded with a pin and $250.

“The goal of the Ambassador of the Quarter program is to recognize and reward outstanding employees for their efforts in promoting, modeling and delivering service excellence to our internal and external guests,” human resources director Micki Knott said. “Our employees truly define The Greenbrier experience, and we were thrilled to see so many deserving employees nominated for this award.”

A dinner ceremony was held in the resort’s Crystal Room for 26 employees who were nominated for this inaugural program. Greenbrier officials said future dinners will be held every four months, and a similar awards program for management employees is forthcoming.

Those honored this quarter were:

- Dixie Bush of Covington,, Va., a 40-year veteran of the conference services department.

- Juan Camacho of Pickaway, an 11-year greensman and shuttle driver.

- Curtis Persinger of Caldwell, a 28-year veteran of the golf maintenance and engineering department.

- James Richardson of Charmco, a 16-year veteran who has worked as a waiter, bellman and a busboy.

All five received a pin and $250, and those nominated also received a certificate. All full-time and part-time employees are eligible for the awards.

In December, a yearly award will also be announced.

Genuine friendliness, trustworthiness and a natural ability to anticipate guests’ needs are a few of the criteria expected for consideration for the award.
