UPDATE: W.Va. man killed trooper, injured 3 in DUI arrest

DUI suspect slipped out of his handcuffs

WALLBACK — Authorities say the man who killed a West Virginia state trooper and injured three others before being killed slipped out of his handcuffs and shot two troopers while being arrested for drunken driving.

The suspect was pulled over at the Wallback park-and-ride off Interstate 79 around 8:30 p.m. Tuesday. State Police Captain R.D. Stonestreet tells WSAZ-TV (bit.ly/Ov6ORJ) the suspect got out of the cuffs, grabbed a gun and shot the troopers while in the back of the cruiser. One died at the scene and the other is in critical condition. The suspect then shot a tow truck driver and fled.

Stonestreet says the suspect hid in a ditch and ambushed a Roane County deputy, injuring him. The suspect was shot and killed.

None of the identities has been released.
