Beckley doctor to represent RGH on council

A Beckley physician will be serving on a corporate physician leadership council this year.

Dr. Judd Lindley, an obstetrician with Associates in Obstetrics and Gynecology in Beckley, will be representing Raleigh General Hospital on the LifePoint’s Physician Leadership Council 2009.

RGH is one of 47 hospitals owned by LifePoint. LifePoint developed the council as an advisory group to provide company management with insight and advice into the health care needs, opportunities and challenges faced by non-urban communities, according to a LifePoint spokesperson.

The advisory groups consist of physician leaders from a cross-section of LifePoint hospitals. Lindley will serve a two-year term with the option of a second term.

He will advise LifePoint on issues including quality improvement, corporate and hospital policies and procedures and physician relations and retention.

“We were very excited to see that Dr. Lindley was going to be part of our physicians’ advisory group,” RGH CEO Karen Bowling said. “He has a wealth of knowledge of not only RGH but about health care in general.”

Lindley has served as president of medical staff at RGH and is a member of RGH Board of Trustees.

RGH is one of the largest LifePoint hospitals, Bowling stated.

Members of the council represent hospitals in Texas, Arizona, Kentucky, New Mexico and Wyoming.

“I think that having Dr. Lindley on that committee is an opportunity for someone who has the expertise and knowledge and credentials to be able to represent RGH and West Virginia in a positive way,” Bowling said. “He certainly is going to be able to offer some valuable insight to that group.”

LifePoint hospitals are located in 17 states.
