BLACKSBURG, Va. — Mountain State Academy outscored Virginia Tech’s junior varsity squad 21-0 in overtime to win Saturday at Cassell Coliseum.
It was the preliminary game to the Georgia Tech-Virginia Tech ACC contest.
“Our guys were getting shoved around quite a bit and I challenged our guys to get a little more physical and defend their man,” MSU Academy coach Rob Fulford said.
It was the third time this year that MSU Academy has shut out a team in a quarter.
Kofi Mensa led the Falcons with 33 points.
Jabs Newby added 20 and Josh Birchfield 19.
The Falcons lost to The Patterson School 60-48 Friday night. Josh Birchfield led the Falcons with 12 points. MSU Academy was just 4-of-22 from three-point range.
Victor Ogunniyi missed Friday’s game with an injury and seven-footer Milos Jerotijevic was also out with a broken nose suffered Thursday in practice.
The Falcons play Oak Hill Academy Red at 7:30 p.m. Monday at the Birdcage.
