Members of the Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority collected more than 50 coats which will be distributed at the Dec. 19 Mac’s Toy Fund party. Mac’s President Dawn Dayton, left, accepted the coats Wednesday from AKA program chair Linda Pannell, center, and sorority member Sheilah Brown. “We’re very appreciative of the sorority’s efforts,” Dayton said. “These coats will go a long way toward helping the greater need we have for this year’s event.” Pannell and Brown said the coats were collected from area churches, community members and Lester Elementary School. In addition to collecting the coats, members of AKA will also volunteer during the toy distribution party.
